Digital Responsibility

By now you have probably heard about Logan Paul. If not, he's a Youtube "celebrity" that recently filmed himself in Japan making fun of a suicide victim. It sparked global disgust and outrage and has since been removed from Youtube. Before it was removed it had been viewed 6 million times and most of his viewers are mostly young people.

It is important to discuss issues like this when they come up. Seeing incredibly graphic content displayed in a mocking manner can be debilitating for young people who may or may not have developed coping mechanisms to such material.

For this post please comment about your reaction to this case. Were you aware of who he was and what happened? Who should be held responsible? With just a click of a camera we can instantly transmit high offensive and morally repugnant content. How far is too far?

  1. Yes I know who Logan Paul is and I have watched his videos before. I am aware of what he did. I believe it is horrible and is unacceptable. I believe he is 100% responsible for his actions. The sign said no trespassing, yet he still chose to trespass. I believe when you are hurting people on purpose just to get money is too far.

  2. I do know Logan Paul, and i know what he did be cause i watch his videos before. He stated that he didn't mean it in a wrong way but i feel he should've never made a video about suicide in a place which is name the Suicide forest. Yes i feel he is responsible for what he did. I feel he did do it for money and for more views and subscribers. But at the end he did make a apology video about what he done and feels very awful.

  3. I do know who Logan Paul is, in fact I've watched almost all of his videos, including this one, because I am a fan. My initial reaction to the video was shock, I couldn't believe he actually showed the body and only blurred out the face. I definitely believe Logan was at fault in this situation because it is very wrong at laugh at stuff like this. He went way too far and should have shut off the cameras the minute he saw the body.

  4. Though I don't pay much attention to him, I heard of what he did. I understand that he might've been attempting to "sound cool" by making fun of a dead body and he din't think of the consequences. However, this does not excuse him for his actions, and even his apology video won't make him popular again. He has permanently affected his career and went too far when he disrespected sacred grounds. I don't know if Youtube or his former fans can forgive him.

  5. Yes, I do know who Logan Paul is and I would watch his videos if not every day every but every other day and when i came across his video which i watched, I was immediately dissapointed and disgusted, mainly disgusted because there are a lot of people in this world who are suicidal and seek for help or need help and him making a video on a man who committed suicide is not right. He might have apologized on behalf of his actions but that doesn't excuse him for what he did.

  6. I do know who Logan Paul is and I don't bother watching his videos. I find his videos dumb and pointless because he does dumb things to get views. I was not aware of what he did and now that I know I think he should take full responsibility for his actions. Being suicidal is not a laughing manner so he should apologize for taking it too far just so he can get more subscribers and multiple views.

  8. i don't watch logan paul vlogs, but i have heard of him, I believe that his youtube should be shut down because what he did was extremely wrong. He had no right to mock another humans life. People like him on the internet are toxic to the digital community and can begin to affect the young minds of those on the internet.

  9. I know who Logan Paul is and I will sometimes watch his videos. I think this was a terrible and unforgiving thing to do because he was laughing at the man who hung himself. Also, this man had a family that probably saw this video and were shocked by his behavior. I think it was definitely Logan Paul's fault because he should have thought about what he was posting and saw that it was wrong.

  10. yes, I do know who Logan Paul is , but I don't bother watching his videos. I think he should take full responsibility because even if he says he's sorry he still decided to upload the video for millions of people to see, if we was really shocked about what happened she wouldn't have uploaded it.

  11. Yes I do know who Logan Paul is, and i felt like what he did has very stupid. I felt like when he saw the person who had killed themselves , that he should have just walked away and waited for the police.I felt like he took this video too far.

  12. I am aware of who Logan Paul is but I do not watch his videos because I know what kind of person he is. I found out about what he did on Instagram and was disgusted. I was shocked when watching the video because I didn't know a person could be so detached from reality that they thought filming a dead body was okay. What he did was horrible and should not be forgiven. He should have realized when editing the video that what he did was wrong. He knows that the majority of people who follow him are young kids, but he still chose to post the disturbing video. He deserves whatever criticism he gets and should get his channel deleted.

  14. I think Logan Paul should have never posted anything and instead use his energy with something positive. He should have made a video saying that he is working with different projects that work towards suicide preventions. It would have been better and more positive video since he has such a young following

  15. Of course, I know who Logan Paul is, he was one of my favorite YouTuber's until I realized that his content was very foolish, every single day pranks a new person, and I think that other people notice this too. his views started to go down and he wants to get them back up. so he did this act knowing that it would get this amount of attention. I definitely think that he should take full responsibility. I actually think his channel should just be taken down.

  16. I have an idea of who he is. I do not watch his videos because they do not spark interest to me. I think it was very idiotic of him to record the man let alone show him. I find it right that he is responsible for his actions
