I watched a TED talk by James Green called "3 moons and a planet that could have alien life." I chose this certain talk to listen to because I've always heard, and asked myself, the question "is there life beyond Earth?" I have never really heard an actual answer to this question until I heard James Green. He talks about the 3 ingredients needed for life which are liquid water, organic material , and energy. He puts them on the screen behind him so the audience will have a better understanding. He then explains why they are needed and where there have been traces of these things on other planets. He talks about 3 moons which are Enceladus , Titan, and Europa, and 1 planet, Mars. He shows the audience pictures that rovers have taken on these moons and planet which is better than him just describing everything. He ends his presentation by saying that with all of this new information, in about 10 years we will definitely have an answer to whether life has existed or is existing on planets other than Earth.
ReplyDeleteThe way he carried himself throughout the presentation showed the audience that he knew what he was talking about and was equally as excited and enthralled by all of this information as the audience. During the presentation, he showed visuals of things he was talking about which helps in understanding the information more. He didn't really walk around or do many physical motions but one can tell that he is comfortable on the stage about presenting. Overall, his presentation was very cool and it was very easy to understand what he was saying.

The TED talk I watched was Alvin Irby's How to inspire every child to be a lifelong reader. I chose this talk because I liked the message it seemed to be sharing. During the talk, Alvin promoted his new idea known as "Barbershop Books". He described it as a way for kids, and adults, to read what they want, when they want to.
ReplyDeleteIn Alvin's presentation, I believe he excelled best with his delivery of the topic. I loved how he made his idea so simple to understand and really owned it. Over all, I think he did a really great job, well deserving of the huge round of applause he got when he finished.
